Ubisoft has managed to establish a major franchise for itself with the character of Sam Fisher who is the star of the Splinter Cell series of action adventure video games which are available on a variety of consoles, as well as the PC. After the last Splinter Cell installment, Double Agent, gamers had been speculating on where the series might head next in its efforts to break new ground and it appears that it is diverging into more of an avenging vein this time. The new game features a Sam Fisher that is driven almost exclusively by rage and deep desire for vengeance. This particular focus was brought out to give players more of the straight fun of an all out killing machine in this episode of the series that is shorter than some of the other titles, but geared more towards the action than the dramatic depth of story the series sometimes aims for.
This time, Fisher’s tale will pick up where Splinter Cell: Double Agent left off to continue the saga of Sarah Fisher, the daughter of the series’ hero. Having left the NSA to take his revenge, the game will feature far more ninja like moves and adventures than even earlier titles had, which is quite a shock for a game that billed itself as having a ‘federal ninja’ for a lead character, say reviewers. This time, Fisher will be less the cool and aloof, and more of the darkly angry and icy cool type of character known in vengeance movies. A new mark and execute feature allows Fisher to clear entire rooms of opponents in slow motion, highly cinematic style.
